The Tanshell is a rarity, essentially being a light brown to natural toned version of the Shell Briar. For a stummel to become a Tanshell, the natural colouring of the briar must be a consistent and completely uniform hue. Briar with complete uniformity is uncommon, which is why very few Tanshells are made in a given year. These are simply "must haves" for the Dunhill collector
